About Sgt. Eric Smith: Sgt. Eric Smith is not just an instructor; he's a seasoned law enforcement professional with a rich service history. With a 21-year career at the Charleston Police Department, Sgt. Smith has received numerous awards and commendations. Before being promoted, Sgt. Smith was a Detective in the Charleston Police Department's Special Enforcement Unit, investigating Cold Case Homicide cases. He also served as the Intelligence officer for over seven years in the Charleston Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division. After retiring from the Charleston Police Department, Sgt. Smith took on the Director of Public Safety role, supervising employees across two campuses. Sgt. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and is completing a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership.
